Properly dog-friendly
Set up for dogs, not just allowed in.
Well-behaved, house-trained dogs are warmly welcome at The Deck. There’s a basket on the deck with toys, water bowls and poo bags, an outdoor shower downstairs (hot and cold) for after the beach, and a grassy clearing 50 metres down the road for a run.
Much of Crescent Head outside the national park is dog-friendly too.

A secure upper deck
The property isn’t fully fenced, but the upper deck is the secure spot. Leave them out there safely while you cook or head down for a swim.
An outdoor shower
Hot and cold, downstairs at the side of the house, for sandy, salty paws before they come inside (please keep them off the carpeted bedrooms).
Toys, bowls and poo bags
A basket on the deck is stocked with the basics, and there’s a clearing 50m down the road for a game of fetch without leaving the neighbourhood.
Dog-friendly all around
Sea Sea and Cheetah Five welcome dogs on the verandah, Killick Beach is dog-friendly outside holiday periods, and the headland walk is a favourite.

Most of Crescent Head with a dog is walkable from the front door. You don’t need the car for any of this.
Killick Beach, the big one
Five kilometres of open sand running north toward Hat Head: cross the bridge at the point and you’re on it. Low tide gives the firmest sand. No facilities, so carry water and bags.
The headland loop
Dog-friendly on the formed track, with the postcard view of Crescent Head. Kangaroos graze here late in the day, so keep a short lead. No shade: walk it early or late in summer.
The riverside walk
South from the point along the estuary to the boat ramp: flat, sealed and sheltered, which makes it the pick for older dogs. Mud flats and birdlife at low tide. On lead.
The clearing down the road
For when it’s raining and nobody wants a project: a grassy clearing at the bottom of Noongah Terrace, good for fetch. Not a fenced dog park, so voice control matters.
One rule that catches people out: Hat Head National Park does not permit dogs anywhere inside its boundaries, at any time of year, though almost everything around it is fine. Beach access and off-lead rules also tighten during school holiday periods, so check the signage at the bridge rather than assuming.

- Dogs are welcome downstairs and on the deck, but not in the carpeted bedrooms.
- The property isn’t fully fenced. The upper deck is the secure area.
- Please pick up after them in the yard, and the house is non-smoking inside. That’s about it.

Crescent Head is a brilliant base for a dog holiday: the beaches, the headland and the quiet trails around town. Hat Head National Park isn’t dog-friendly, but almost everything around it is.
Are dogs really allowed, or is it ‘pets on request’?
Really allowed. Well-behaved, house-trained dogs are welcome at The Deck as standard. You don’t need to ask permission or pay a pet fee. Just let us know they’re coming so we can have the basket stocked.
Is the property fenced?
Not fully. The upper deck is the secure area: it’s enclosed, so you can leave your dog out there safely while you cook or head down for a swim. The yard itself is open, so dogs need supervision or a lead down there.
Can dogs sleep inside?
Yes, downstairs and on the deck. We ask that they stay off the carpeted bedroom floors. Bring their own bed if they’re particular about it; most dogs settle on the deck.
Where can I wash the dog after the beach?
There’s an outdoor shower downstairs at the side of the house, with hot and cold water. It’s the easiest way to get sand and salt off before they come inside.
Can dogs go on the beach at Crescent Head?
Killick Beach, north across the creek, is the dog beach: five kilometres of open sand. Access and off-lead rules tighten during school holiday periods, so check the signage at the bridge when you arrive. Hat Head National Park itself does not permit dogs at any time.
Are the cafes dog-friendly?
Sea Sea and Cheetah Five both welcome dogs on the verandah and keep water bowls out. Between the two of them you can get breakfast, lunch and the best coffee in town without leaving the dog at home.
What do I need to bring for the dog?
Their food, lead, and bed if they have a favourite. We keep toys, food and water bowls, and poo bags in a basket on the upper deck, so the rest is covered.
